Seafood Watch Points to U.S. Farmed Fish, Shellfish and Seaweed as “Super Green”

Courtesy of NAA:

To celebrate 25 years of rating seafood to inform and persuade consumers, the Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Seafood Watch has compiled a top-ten list of seafood that gets top marks by Seafood Watch and is nutritious and healthy to eat.

To promote the top-ten, the Aquarium writes:

“…the Super Green List includes ocean-friendly and nutritious seafood. Simple and straightforward, you can eat these species in good conscience — for your body and for the planet. These foods are high in omega-3 fatty acids, low in mercury, and, above all, are rated green by the Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch program for environmental sustainability. (Note: Seaweed omega-3 levels vary by species.) They’re good for you and good for the planet. They’re Super Green!”

Seven of the ten Super Green rated seafoods are U.S. farmed

Below is the list of the seven Super Green rated U.S. farmed species:

In addition to the Super Green rankings, the Aquarium recognizes more U.S. farmed seafoods as Green or Best Buy consumer choices:

As a bonus the Aquarium also offers Super Green seafood recipes.
