The UC Davis Aquaculture Extension Program and the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) are conducting a research survey investigating the animal health needs of all aquaculture producers in California.
This anonymous survey will ask for general information about your aquaculture operation; the types of organisms raised; diseases encountered; the types and efficacy of treatments used; use of biosecurity and animal health protocols; and the use of alternatives to antibiotics.
This survey is voluntary and full participation is desired to accurately identify industry needs. The survey is designed to collect important information concerning current/emerging disease trends and the use/need for antimicrobial products like antibiotics. The information collected will be used to inform scientific publications, and university-industry extension documents.
Currently, the researchers are preparing to start conducting the survey. All producers will be contacted by UC Davis Aquaculture Extension Specialist, Dr. Jackson Gross, to gauge interest in participating in this survey. Participants will then receive the survey via email and asked to schedule a follow-up phone interview where the information will be collected by graduate student researcher Alex Wright.
Any further questions can be directed towards either Alex Wright (axwright@ucdavis.edu), or Dr. Jackson Gross (jagross@ucdavis.edu).
