From the Aquarium of the Pacific:
In 2019 we were awarded funds from National Sea Grant to identify policy barriers for commercial marine aquaculture development in the United States. The results of this research have yielded some interesting findings, including highlighting the inconsistency and uncertainty in how marine aquaculture data are collected and shared in and among states. We will be sharing the results of this research in an open webinar on June 2, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (PDT) and hope that you will be able to attend. Please save the date. This webinar will be open to anyone who wants to attend. Further information and call-in details will be sent closer to the event.
In the meantime, we are hoping that you can participate in a very brief online survey (11 questions, ~5 minutes to respond) focused on aquaculture data collection, availability and needs at the state level. This information will help us identify solutions to address challenges and bottlenecks more robust data collection and consistency across states, essential for the future of marine aquaculture. It will also help inform a small workshop later in the year designed to address these issues. In order to ensure quality discussion, the workshop will be limited to a very small group of participants. The results of this survey will help inform discussions at the workshop beyond the perspectives of the participants. All results will be anonymous and only aggregated information will be shared with the workshop participants. Please complete the survey by April 15, 2021.
