New opportunity: Binational climate extension fellowship

Apply by December 5, 2022

California Sea Grant and the Climate Science Alliance are accepting applications for a two-year fellowship to work with scientists and Indigenous communities around the San Diego-Baja California Norte region.

As coastal communities prepare for the effects of climate change, they need access to coastal observations, future climate projections and local and traditional knowledge. Regional data and knowledge exists that can contribute to these efforts, but it is often siloed in communities or academic institutions, making it difficult to discover and disseminate. In the San Diego-Baja California Norte region, these challenges are amplified by language barriers, resource inequalities, and historic injustices.

The Binational Climate Extension Fellow will increase access to research and facilitate knowledge-sharing in order to help communities prepare for climate change. The two-year position is part of the Binational Resilience Initiative and is based at California Sea Grant. The fellow will receive mentorship from a California Sea Grant Extension Specialist, as well as from the co-Directors and staff of the Climate Science Alliance.
