WRAC Seeking Pre-Proposal Regional Research Applications

The Western Regional Aquaculture Center (WRAC) Request for Pre-Proposals (RFP) for FY2023 is now open for submissions through April 15, 2022.

The WRAC is seeking Pre-Proposals for nine research areas, listed here in no specific order or rank:

  1. New and Emerging Species
  2. Detection, Prevention and Treatment of Stressors Affecting Aquaculture Production
  3. Aquaculture Opportunities Through Genetics
  4. Aquaculture: Applied Technology Solutions
  5. Diet Nutrition/Innovation
  6. Opportunities and Obstacles to Aquaculture Development in the Western Region
  7. Increasing Product Quality Through Food Science and Quality Control
  8. Reducing Impacts of Aquatic Nuisance Species on Shellfish Aquaculture
  9. Improvements in Hatchery Technology and Techniques

General Criteria for WRAC-funded Research & Outreach Projects

  • The region includes Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.
  • Priority will be given to projects that include participation by two or more states located within the western region (see specific criteria).
  • Partnerships may be formed among all elements of federal, state, and local government; public institutions; and the private sector.
