Job Opportunity: California Sea Grant – California Cooperative Oceanic Fisheries Investigations (CalCOFI) Coordinator

Scripps Institution of Oceanography (SIO) and California Sea Grant at UC San Diego seek a motivated individual to coordinate the California Cooperative Oceanic Fisheries Investigations (CalCOFI) program. The coordinator will work under the guidance of the CalCOFI Director and CalCOFI Committee, in partnership with California Sea Grant.

The successful candidate will work to organize and strengthen CalCOFI’s state, federal and academic connections, and will facilitate new programmatic elements that strengthen the connections between data and constituents. As part of this effort, the successful candidate will organize annual scientific meetings, and twice-annual meetings of the CalCOFI Scientific Advisory Board. They will also work as part of California Sea Grant extension team, which conducts research and outreach around the state.

Applicants must have a PhD or equivalent in ocean sciences or a related field. Strengths in biological oceanography, fisheries science and advanced data analyses are preferred. Strengths in organization and personal communication are essential.
