Brenda Chandler, U.S. CEO of Nordic Aquafarms, announced that the company is nearing the end of the permitting process for its onshore fish farm at the Redwood Marine Terminal II property in California. The focus is now shifting to site clean-up, including addressing subsurface infrastructure and preparing for demolition, which is expected to begin by early 2025.
Construction is planned for late 2026 or early 2027, followed by a commissioning phase extending into 2028. The project will require a diverse workforce, including aquaculture experts, biologists, engineers, farmers, and sales professionals, creating significant opportunities in the region. Chandler emphasized a step-by-step approach while preparing for broader community engagement in the near future.
