California Sea Grant Community Research Contacts and Needs Survey

California Sea Grant is inviting participation in its Community Research Contacts and Needs Survey. This initiative aims to better support community ocean and coastal science research needs through its research funding solicitations. The organization seeks to incentivize projects that are led by or co-produced with community partners and/or address the research needs of these partners.

In early 2025, California Sea Grant will release its next call for proposals to support research projects aligned with its strategic plan for Indigenous fisheries and aquaculture, graduate research fellowships, and community-engaged seed grants. Submissions to this survey will contribute to a live, updated contact list of community partners interested in collaborating with potential applicants to co-produce proposals. The level of involvement for community partners may vary depending on capacity and needs (e.g., serving as a research lead, subaward, advisor, etc.).

The survey will remain open until the funding solicitation letter of intent deadline (approximately spring 2025). However, earlier submissions are encouraged to increase the likelihood of forming strong partnerships. More details and the survey link can be accessed by clicking here.
