Job Opportunity: NOAA Aquaculture Business Development Economist

Duties

  • Develop advanced economic and business models, econometric analysis, and data collection projects applicable to fisheries and aquaculture. Plans and promotes expert research relevant to fishery or aquaculture management or marine resources, and research projects in association with governmental and non-governmental agencies, academic institutions, and industry.
  • Serve as technical lead for the development and implementation of studies and strategies to address complex seafood economic development needs such workforce development and infrastructure, supply chains, and the effects of regulations and policies (local, regional, and national) on fishers, seafood farmers, and coastal communities.
  • Establish and lead an economics research program to advance economic development of fishing and aquaculture communities. Engages with other senior economists and stakeholders to assess needs, available resources, and gaps in the literature. Develop and carries out long-terms research strategies.
