SBA Offers Disaster Assistance to California Businesses and Residents Affected by the Bridge Fire

The Small Business Administration (SBA) is offering low-interest disaster loans to businesses, nonprofits, homeowners, and renters affected by recent natural disasters, including Hurricanes Helene and Milton in the Southeast and the Bridge Fire in California. SBA Administrator Isabel Casillas Guzman emphasized the agency’s commitment to supporting small businesses and local economies, even amid funding challenges. In California, loans are available in Kern, Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino, and Ventura counties. SBA Disaster Loan Outreach Centers will open in heavily affected areas to provide guidance on loan applications and access to recovery resources. Businesses can borrow up to $2 million to repair or replace assets, while homeowners and renters may receive up to $500,000 and $100,000, respectively. Although current disaster funds are exhausted, applications are still being accepted, and funds will be distributed once new funding is available. Property damage applications are due by Dec. 23, 2024, and economic injury applications by July 23, 2025.
