The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), led by Administrator Isabel Casillas Guzman, is supporting communities in the Southeast as they recover from Hurricanes Helene and Milton. The SBA is helping small businesses stabilize by providing disaster loans for physical damages, inventory losses, and revenue impact. Despite diminished disaster funds, the SBA remains committed to processing applications and providing relief when funds are replenished.
Additionally, the SBA has made low-interest federal disaster loans available to businesses and residents in California counties affected by the Park and Borel fires (July 24–August 26). These loans are offered to businesses, nonprofits, homeowners, and renters to repair or replace damaged property. Businesses can borrow up to $2 million, while homeowners can borrow up to $500,000, with favorable interest rates and terms.
Although the Disaster Loan Program’s current funds are exhausted, applicants are encouraged to submit their loan applications in preparation for future funding. Key deadlines are December 20, 2024, for property damage claims, and July 21, 2025, for economic injury claims.
