SBA Offers Disaster Assistance to California Businesses and Residents Affected by the Airport Fire

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has announced that low-interest federal disaster loans are available to businesses, nonprofits, homeowners, and renters affected by the Airport Fire in California, which occurred from Sept. 9 to Oct. 6. This declaration applies to areas in California and neighboring Arizona counties. Loans of up to $2 million are available for businesses, and up to $500,000 for homeowners to repair or replace damaged property. Small businesses and nonprofits can also apply for Economic Injury Disaster Loans. Interest rates are as low as 4% for businesses, 3.25% for nonprofits, and 2.813% for homeowners and renters, with repayment beginning 12 months after the first loan disbursement.

Although funding for the Disaster Loan Program has been exhausted as of Oct. 15, 2024, applications are still being accepted and will be processed once additional funding is available. Applicants are encouraged to apply before the Dec. 17, 2024 deadline for property damage or the July 18, 2025 deadline for economic injury. Assistance is available online, by phone, or at Disaster Loan Outreach Centers.
