NOAA Hiring Two Aquaculture Communication Specialists

The Aquaculture Communication Specialist will perform a range of activities:

  • Translate technical aquaculture science and policy materials into accessible and engaging communications for the general public.
  • Develop communications web stories, campaigns and plans, leadership remarks, presentations, emails, outreach materials, website content, social media posts, videos, podcasts, story maps, and e-newsletters; and training on these efforts/products.
  • Produce a range of communications resources including plain-language writing, branding, graphic design, editing, website, and social media management support for high-profile communications products.
  • Develop environmental education and outreach materials on aquaculture topics.
  • Develop and coordinate key messages to various audiences (e.g. congress, leadership, industry and the public.)
  • Work with diverse teams of scientists, policy experts, academics, and aquaculture growers to develop communications and outreach materials.

Qualified candidates must have:

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field: (e.g. science writing, communication, journalism, environmental policy, marine science, aquaculture, or a related field.)
  • Exceptional writing, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of marine, biological, or environmental sciences and science communication.
  • Ability to work with diverse teams to accomplish tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Work collaboratively with team members and interact respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds and academic levels.
