The USC Sea Grant“From Research to the Real World” event will now be fully virtual.

In this half-day workshop, USC Sea Grant and OPC will convene members of the California research community, NGOs, as well as local, state, and federal agency leads to consider new scientific information from USC Sea Grant-funded research, discuss how that information can be used for management needs, and scope best practices to improve future research-to application processes for Southern California Urban Ocean challenges.

Event Date: Monday 22, January 2024
Event Time: 1 – 4:30 pm PT
Event Location: California Natural Resources Agency Auditorium, 715 P St, Sacramento, CA 95814

Workshop Goals

  1. Convene the California research community, decision-makers from local, state, and federal agencies, stakeholders from non-governmental organizations, and educators to consider new scientific information from USC Sea Grant-funded research, directly consider how that information can be used for immediate and mid-term management needs, and develop communication strategies for dissemination and education going forward.
  2. Outline “best practices” in the research-to-application process specifically geared to issue identification and outreach for Southern California – how research needs and information gaps are identified, what mechanisms are most productive for communicating two-way information on needs and research results, key agency leads on Urban Ocean subject areas, as well as other focused topics.
