California Sea Grant and Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego seek a resourceful, innovative applied marine scientist with a passion for aquaculture research and outreach. Duties include building an extension program based on applied research and conducting outreach focused on Southern California aquaculture opportunities that address regional coastal and marine challenges. This position will work closely with Biology Division scientists, other CASG extension specialists and aquaculture stakeholders.
Through research, community engagement and education, the successful candidate will be able to develop and disseminate aquaculture education while interfacing with a diverse network of stakeholders.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent in ocean sciences with demonstrated experience working in any current or emerging areas related to aquaculture. Strengths in organization, communication and engagement with a range of people, including other academics, stakeholders, policymakers and the general public are essential.
