West Coast Stakeholder Input Needed for Potential Development of Aquaculture Innovation Center

Aquaculture is the fastest-growing producer of seafood products for a growing world. Investment from the west coast, however, lags behind despite abundant human and natural resources. To compete with imported aquaculture products and bolster domestic aquaculture growth, job creation, and healthy seafood consumption, the west coast needs targeted investment and greater coordination across the sector.

To help grow the sector for everyone involved, the California Aquaculture Association (CAA), Oregon Aquaculture Association (OAA), Northwest Aquaculture Alliance (NWAA), partnering with The Steward Foundation, acquired USDA funds and are collaborating to propose a west coast center to serve as a hub for aquaculture innovation, marketing, education, and outreach. With an eventual physical facility, the center would centralize technical and industry knowledge for broad dissemination, while also catalyzing and demonstrating innovations for industry, agencies, the public, and the marketplace. The survey, linked below, will assist in gathering stakeholder input on how the aquaculture industry can be better supported. This short survey will accompany the several dozen interviews currently being conducted as part of the innovation center project.
