National Agricultural Classification Survey Deadline January 24th

The National Agricultural Classification Survey is a USDA effort to identify potential agricultural operations in the United States. As part of this nationwide effort, survey codes were mailed out to a million potential agriculture and aquaculture producers on Dec. 13. The deadline for survey responses is January 24, 2022.

The results of this survey help provide the best possible coverage for the 2022 Census of Agriculture. The Census of Agriculture is a complete accounting of farms and ranches in the United States and the people who operate them. Collected once every five years by USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service, the Census of Agriculture provides information on area use and ownership, operator characteristics, production practices, income and expenditures. This information is used to help make decisions that benefit the farming community – from decisions guiding succession planning and new and beginning farmer programs to decisions impacting agriculture practices, stewardship, and sustainability.

Find out more about the National Agricultural Classification Survey and the online questionnaire at www.nass.usda.gov/Surveys/Guide_to_NASS_Surveys/NACS/. Aquaculture producers that did not receive the 2017 Census of Agriculture are encouraged to sign up to be counted in future census and surveys at agcounts.usda.gov/static/get-counted.html.
