FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
February 8, 2021 – The first California Aquaculture Association (CAA) board of directors meeting of the year was held on February 5, 2021 via video conference. Among the topics on the meeting agenda were the election of the CAA officers as well as the discussion and formation of a new CAA committee.
Selected and approved by a unanimous vote of the CAA board of directors, the following officers have been elected to lead the association:
- Tony Vaught – President, Vice President of Public Relations
- Michael Graham – President Elect, Vice President of Government Affairs
- Ali Bolourchi – Treasurer
- Cameron Eglington – Secretary
Additionally, a new CAA committee, the Emerging Technologies Committee was formed by a unanimous vote of the CAA board of directors. The responsibilities of the Emerging Technologies Committee include, but are not limited to researching, exploring, advancing, and developing emerging technologies applicable to the California aquaculture industry. Current committee members include:
- Tony Vaught – Co-Chair
- Michael Graham – Co-Chair
- Olavur Gregersen – Member
Lastly, a new director, Brendan Heinichen was elected to the CAA board of directors. The current CAA board of directors include:
- Michael Graham, Sustainable Seafood Technologies
- Cameron Eglington, Desert Seafood
- Jackie Zimmerman, Merck
- Ali Bolourchi, Plaza Aqua Farm
- Gregg Leonard, Freshwater Fish Company
- Iva Gaglione, Star Milling Company
- Mark Drawbridge, Hubbs SeaWorld Research Institute
- Olavur Gregersen, Ocean Rainforest
- Tony Vaught, Professional Aquaculture Services
- Brendan Heinichen, AllTech
