California Aquaculture Association Seeking Board of Directors Nominees
The California Aquaculture Association (CAA) is currently seeking nominations for the upcoming Board of Directors election, which will be help in the fall. The duties and responsibilities of CAA directors are listed below. If you are interested in being considered as a nominee, please respond to info@caaquaculture.org by November 1, 2020.
CAA Board of Directors Responsibilities
Director term: two years | Must be an active Producer/Associate member with CAA
- Prepare for and attend quarterly meetings.
- Be available to participate on a minimum of one committee. (Current committees include Executive Committee, Government Affairs Committee, and Public Relations Committee.)
- Additional working meetings/calls may be required.
- Be familiar with the by-laws, policies, and financial statements.
- Establish objectives and policies for CAA’s future.
- Supervise the Executive Director.
- Oversee fiduciary matters.
- Maintain communication with Members.
- Communicate promptly with other Board members.
California Aquaculture Association Seeking Committee Members
The CAA board of directors is supported by three committees, the executive committee, the government affairs committee, and the public relations committee. The duties of these committees can be viewed here as well as in the CAA bylaws. These committees are an excellent way for CAA members to become more involved in the association and, by extension, the industry as a whole. If you are interested in serving on one of these committees, please respond to info@caaquaculture.org.
Also, as a brief reminder, members of CAA:
- Are eligible to vote in CAA elections and other voting events (Producer/Associate members only).
- Are eligible for Director nomination (Producer/Associate members only).
- Are eligible and encouraged to attend CAA Board meetings.
- Are well represented with regard to California legislative issues via our legislative advocate and government relations professional, who has developed relationships with the Governor, key members of his administration, legislative leadership, and appropriate policy committees.
- Receive a weekly CAA newsletter that includes relevant industry news and updates.
- Are eligible to submit company logo (and link to company website) for display in the CAA newsletter.
- Receive discounted insurance rates from Ridgemark Insurance.
- Help us in our mission to protect, promote, and grow California’s aquaculture industry.
- Are eligible to submit member posts/articles to be published on the CAA website and/or CAA weekly newsletter.
