The US Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) is seeking public comment on a proposed double-crested cormorant management permit for state and tribal wildlife agencies. The proposed permit is a component of a national management strategy proposed by the agency on January 22, 2020 that may include a re-instated Aquaculture Depredation Order. The proposed rule can be read or downloaded by clicking here.
Farmers impacted by double-crested cormorant predation are urged to comment in favor the proposed permit. The most effective means to manage double-crested cormorant are state and tribal population control programs during the summer nesting season.
