Offshore aquaculture bill re-introduced in US House

Collin Peterson, chairman of the US House of Representatives and a Minnesota Democrat, and representative Steven Palazzo, a Mississippi Republican, have re-introduced legislation to ease the barriers for companies looking to grow finfish in net pens or cages in federal waters, between three and 200 miles from shore.

But this time there’s a new twist.

The Advancing the Quality and Understanding of American Aquaculture (AQUAA) Act (HR 6191) includes many of the same provisions contained in the bills Palazzo, Peterson and senator Roger Wicker, a Mississippi Republican, introduced earlier.
