Norway publishes report on challenges of offshore aquaculture

Norway’s Directorate of Fisheries has produced a report looking at the challenges that will be posed by the country’s ambitious aim to establish offshore aquaculture facilities, and takes a look at the measures that will be necessary to ensure the project is successful.

“We want the aquaculture industry to grow, but growth must be sustainable. It may be possible to move the fish farms further offshore, but then the authorities must facilitate this. And we want to do that now,” said Harald Nesvik, Norway’s fisheries minister, in a statement.
