Many wild fisheries have been pushed to their limits and aquaculture is expected to meet most future global seafood demand. Aquaculture already produces more than half of the world’s seafood and is growing rapidly. California is a major consumer of seafood products, importing over 90%. Aquaculture production in California is small, at least in part, due to public concerns and government regulations.

Presented by California Sea Grant, Moss Landing Marine Labs, Save our Shores, and Lift Economy, this forum seeks to bring together diverse stakeholders to find possible pathways for developing responsible aquaculture in California. The forum will provide objective information on potential benefits and concerns with aquaculture while examining possible solutions to help address concerns.

Environmental stewardship is cherished in California. Come learn how low-impact/regenerative aquaculture opportunities in California could enhance natural resources, reduce pressure on wild fisheries and decrease our reliance on imported aquaculture products that may be environmentally-unsound.
