Aqua tech company unveils new nitrite, ammonia removal process

US-based aquaculture technology provider Black Water Nano has debuted an ammonia and nitrite mitigation process for recirculating systems and fish farms, the company said.

The Chicago, Illinois-based company sells nitrite/ammonia removal units that it claims “have no ongoing operating costs, require no maintenance and are chemical and electricity free,” the company said in a press release.

The product unveiling comes after seven months of pilot studies at shrimp and fish recirculating aquaculture systems.

The units can bring nitrite and ammonia amounts “to undetectable levels within a week of installation with no indication of ill effects (including gas bubble trauma) on the specimen shrimp and fish,” the company said.
