The U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Center for Veterinary Medicine announced fees for animal food and feed ingredients export certificates. The fee will be effective October 1, 2015.
In January 2011, the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) provided authorization for the FDA to begin to charge fees for export certification for human and animal food to match fees for other FDA-regulated products (i.e., pharmaceuticals, biologics, and devices). The agency issues export certificates for regulated products that are legally marketed in the United States, as well as for these same types of products that are not legally marketed in the U.S., but are acceptable to the importing country.
Export certificate fees for animal drugs, biologics, devices, or animal food will be $175 for the first certificate, $155 for first duplicate original, and $70 for each subsequent copy. Certificates to Foreign Government indicate that the particular product may be marketed in, and legally exported from, the United States, and that the particular manufacturer has no unresolved enforcement actions pending before or taken by the FDA
