New Mexico Bill to allow ‘Aquaponic’ systems for simultaneous fish, vegetable farming to be heard

Many of us want to eat in a healthy way, but often times, the cost is a deterrent.

Now there’s a push in the legislature to pass a bill that would allow New Mexicans to farm their own fish and vegetables inside their homes. It’s using a fairly new method of farming called “Aquaponics” – a sustainable way to farm fish and vegetables simultaneously.

Chris Morales, co-owner of Golden Crown Panaderia near Old Town, has been using Aquaponics to grow basil since the fall of 2013.
