Merck Animal Health, known as MSD Animal Health outside the US and Canada, has announced the appointment of Chris Beattie, Ph.D. to lead its aquaculture division.
Chris Beattie joins from Skretting North America, where he held the role of general manager.
In his new role, Beattie will be responsible for the strategic direction of the division, including product introductions, life-cycle management and geo-expansion into currently under-developed regions.
“The aquaculture business is a significant global growth opportunity for Merck Animal Health and we are pleased to have Chris, with his impressive background, join our company,” said Fabio Paganini, leader food production animal division, with Merck Animal Health.
“His exceptional track record in the industry will help to guide our business to be the undisputed leader in aquaculture health.”
Beattie received his Bachelor of Science in Marine & Freshwater Biology from the University of Glasgow, Scotland and his Ph.D. in Fish Physiology from the University of St. Andrews, Scotland having carried out much of his practical research work at the Institute of Marine Research in Norway.
