Mike Berthet of M&J Seafood Ltd. has joined the Global Aquaculture Alliance’s board of directors.
Mr Berthet is director of fish and seafood for M&J. A qualified chef with 30-plus years of seafood experience, he represents M&J on sustainability issues and ensures that the company’s passion and commitment to responsibly sourced seafood is maintained.
“Having worked in the fish and seafood foodservice industry in the UK for more than 30 years, I consider it a great privilege to be asked to join the GAA board,” said Mr Berthet. “I look forward to helping with whatever input I can give, to further the GAA and its quest to bring all aquaculture into an ecological, ethical, sustainable and sound certifiable footing for the future benefit of all.”
“We are pleased that Mike is joining our board of directors as his commitment to sustainable aquaculture practices mirror those of GAA,” said GAA President Wally Stevens. “He is a well-recognised teacher of men and women in the foodservice sector, which is vitally important to GAA as it is chefs who have such an influential role with informing consumers on the benefits of eating seafood products coming from aquaculture.”
There are 20 members of the GAA board of directors. Each member serves a two-year term.
