The United States Aquaculture Society, North Central Regional Aquaculture Center and National Aquaculture Association is offering a free webinar entitled Aquaculture Business Planning.

Aquaculture business planning is a critical, but often overlooked step in the development of a successful aquaculture enterprise. Proper record keeping and adaptive management based on those records are also necessary for long term farm profitability. A business plan will help the farmer think through the benefits and constraints of starting a business and provide a roadmap to success through the life of the business. This webinar will present basic business concepts to help you to write a business plan and develop pro forma statements for your business. We’ll cover types of costs associated with aquaculture production and the record keeping needed to determine the costs of production for your business.

Presenter: Matt Parker, Aquaculture Business Specialist with the University of Maryland Extension. Matt has over 15 years of experience working with farmers. He has spent the majority of his career educating aquaculture producers about the need for proper business planning and assisting them in writing business plans and finding financing. Matt’s goal is to advance the US aquaculture industry by helping producers develop financially stable businesses with realistic financial expectations.
