INJURIOUS WILDLIFE PETITION SUMMARY AND ACTION PLAN

Please click to view the call for action and in-depth summary from NAA concerning a petition submitted to the US Fish and Wildlife Service to list 43 native and nonnative species as Injurious Wildlife.  The petition included species significant to US aquaculture producers including black acara, blue catfish, common carp (i.e., koi), grass carp, guppies, Jaguar guapote, three plecos (Amazon, Orinoco and vermiculated sailfin catfish), red swamp crawfish, and three tilapias (i.e., blue, Mozambique and Nile).

If the petition is successful, listed species will be prohibited for interstate commerce and importation.  Such activity would be subject to federal criminal penalties.

Please review the call for action and summary and further distribute to any affected parties.

Please note that the CAA Board of Directors will be discussing this issue at the CAA Board meeting on November 3, 2016. If you are a CAA member and have concerns and/or wish to attend this meeting (teleconference), please contact info@caaquaculture.org.
